Green and slightly sweet, Pistachios have been around for almost thousands of years. They come in colours ranging from yellow to different shades of green and are believed to have originated in western Asia. Archaeologists believe pistachios became a food as early as 7,000 B.C! They came to the United States in the mid-19th century and commercial production began in the 1970s.

Among the possible health benefits of pistachios:

  • They are high in unsaturated fatty acids and potassium. Both have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory traits.
